Author Visit!

We have a young celebrity living near us. Landon Colvin, from Vernon, has published his first book, and he is only 10!

I’m excited to announce that Landon will be putting on a special presentation of his book here at the Salmon Arm branch on Saturday, December 3rd at 11:30am. This is a wonderful event for all ages.

Landon’s book is called Spirit Wolf, and is being sold at K&K Bookstore and Bookland in Vernon, as well as other various locations in the Okanagan. The incredibly cool thing about Landon’s book is that half of the proceeds of each sale goes to a special charity. But I’ll let him tell you more about that at his presentation.

So, come to the library on December 3 at 11:30am to meet Landon and hear about his journey in writing!

Freedom To Read Week

This week is the week Canadians celebrate having the freedom to read whatever we want, and free access to information. In the past and in many places around the world, the books we enjoy are not allowed to be in libraries. Our library receives requests to censor certain issues or remove books from the collection, but we protect your right to read.

Come unlock a book this week!

Reminder: September is Angel Month

once dead, twice shySeptember 7th we will gather around the angel food cake and talk about teen novels that involve angels. We can discuss any books that fall within this theme, including graphic novels.

The two angel themed books I’ve read in preparation for the book discussion are Hush, Hush and Once Dead, Twice Shy. Both of these titles are in our library system.

I would recommend Once Dead, Twice Shy if you want a different perspective on angels, a debate between free will and fate, and likable characters.

What angel books have you loved? (comment below and or come September 7th)
