Copyright Blues
I’m sorry to announce that due to copyright issues the SA branch will not be able to include movies as part of Teen Tuesdays. Sorry to disappoint, please forgive previous advertising including movies.
We will still be having book discussion and free snacks provided by Askew’s. It will be a great time and you will hear about some good reads, so try to finish a vampire book by August 3rd.
Win an ipod touch
In addition to the prizes you can get from submitting book reviews to me through this blog or in the SA branch you can win an iPod touch by submitting a review at www.teenrc.ca by August 31st
Snacks For Teen Tuesdays
Chess @ the library
You may notice a chess board that I put in the teen area of the library. Feel free to hang out and play chess or checkers.
If you like chess you might want to check out:
-Dragonfly in Amber (not YA and not directly about chess, but Jamie’s chess playing gets him into social and political circles he needs to influence the Jacobite rising)
Teen Tuesday starts in August
August 3rd 6pm in the teen area
Vampires
Sparkle, Spike, stake or spar? Whatever type of vampire novels you enjoy or have not yet had a chance to try, read one and come for a discussion.
Great way to hear about what others have enjoyed or hated so you know what to look for or avoid.
Upcoming Themes:
- September-Angels
- October-Zombies
- November- Playing with Genes
- December- Blast from the past
- January- Arthurian Legends
- February-Out of this World
- March-Urban Legends
What’s up?
Hey,
I’m Stephanie, the new Youth Services Librarian at the Salmon Arm Branch of the ORL. I am going to be blogging here about new books & movies for teens @ the library. I am really hoping to get some programs for teens @ our branch and if they get approved I will be advertising them here. If you have any ideas, complaints or whatever feel free to contact me svollick@orl.bc.ca. I am only part-time @ the moment so sorry if it takes a couple of days to get back to you.
Few things about me:
- I am a fantasy, spec fic, vampire geek but I have a BA in English so I know the classics too
- I am a recent grad, so I know about how to get into university and survive student life if you need advice
- I am a bit obsessed with all Mario games and think gaming has a place in the library
- I love to read YA books, and have a personal blog where I review them
My office is @ the back of the library on the right hand side and I’m on the reference desk Saturdays so feel free to come say hi and we can talk books, movies, games or whatever.
