Teen Tuesdays

Sorry but due to lack of interest and low attendence this program is canceled. Teens are still welcome to come hang out and talk about books with one another but there will not be a formal program or organized themes.  If you want to start your own book club and hold it at the library or have any questions please contact me svollick@orl.bc.ca

Worried about finding Zombie Books you’ll enjoy? Wasn’t really my thing until I read Kelley Armstrong’s the Summoning (available @ the library and online) so that’s a great one if you are new to the subject. If you want something a little scarier The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan has been very popular. Action packed is more typically zombie like, for that the library has

Dead is So Last Year by Marlene Perez has a title that speaks for itself. With Generation Dead by Dan Walters and You Are So Undead To Me by Stacey Jay appealing to the readers who like the drama drama drama of high school.

If you’ve read Pride and Prejudice (maybe for school?) you’ll get a good laugh out of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies even though it’s not aimed at teens.

I was surprised how much zombie stuff was in the non-fiction section of the library

You may be interested in the blog post @ Karin’s Book Nook about her zombie reading, but we don’t have all of those books available at the library.

November 2nd is Playing With Genes day. My suggested reads for this are:

Blast From The Past  Read something set in the past. I’m flexible about what time period so go with what interests you. It can be medieval, WW II, the 60s, any time period you haven’t experienced yourself. Fantasy elements are allowed, for example if a vampire story is set in the past for most of the book because the vampire has lived a long time, or if you read Scott Westerfeld’s Leviathon there are steampunk elements that aren’t real.
Jan 4th the theme is Arthurian Legends  King Arthur stories pop up in all sorts of genres, so take your pick! Here is my post about it
Feb Out of This World  I read Across the Universe and Beyonders: A World Without Heroes. This was a flexible theme where you could read science fiction, fantasy set in space or another world or scientific facts about space.

submit book reviews and I will post them on the blog
